Matthysse seryoso sa pagte-training
MANILA, Philippines — Kumpara kay Manny Pacquiao, mas nakatutok si world welterweight titlist Lucas Matthysse ng Argentina sa kanyang training camp.
“I just think right now Lucas Matthysse is more focused because he’s only focused on boxing,” sabi ni Joel Diaz, ang trainer ni Matthysse, sa panayam ng Fight Hub.TV. “If I’m not mistaken Manny Pacquiao has other distractions in his career.”
Ang tinutukoy ni Diaz, dating cornerman ni American world welterweight king Timothy Bradley, Jr., ay ang trabaho ni Pacquiao sa Senado na inaasahang makakaapekto sa kanyang pag-eensayo.
Isa ito sa mga naging dahilan ng unanimous decision loss ni Pacquiao kay Jeff Horn na nagresulta sa pagkawala ng kanyang suot na World Boxing Organization welterweight belt noong Hulyo ng 2017.
Hangad ng 39-anyos na si Pacquiao na agawin sa 35-anyos na si Matthysse ang bitbit nitong World Boxing Association welterweight crown sa Hulyo 15 sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ayon kay Diaz, hindi dapat balewalain ni Matthysse ang lakas ni Pacquiao.
“If Lucas Matthysse doesn’t have a strong mentality walking in the fight even though he’s in great condition and he has all the tools to do it, Manny can really frustrate him because of his speed and beat him,” sabi ni Diaz. “But if Lucas Matthysse keeps that straight mind, that mentality that he has the potential to do it, and land that one punch — he can hurt him,” dagdag pa nito.
