A mid the pandemic, Filinvest City lit up the holidays with its “Be the Light” virtual event. The celebration kicked off by paying tribute to frontliners and modern-day heroes.

Filinvest City encouraged the community to always look at the brighter side with its Christmas video-making online contest that featured various frontliners who work in the township. During the show hosted by Sam YG, the top five entries were revealed. Angela Pangilinan won the contest with her video, which told the story of the determined, long-time security guard Arnel Pastor. Her entry was also dubbed the People’s Choice Award. Pangilinan received a total of P25,000 in cash. Finalists Justine Sarmiento and Precious Joy Matorre were named runners-up and received P15,000 and P10,000, respectively.

Owner and CEO of CCA Manila Badjie Trinidad said, “CCA Manila is continuously on the lookout for innovations and partnerships that can help Filipino students become the world-class chefs that they dream to be. The Rouxbe partnership only underscores that we continue to provide relevant, effective and innovative education to our students. Aside from culinary students, the Rouxbe platform provides education to at-home chefs, professional chefs, schools, hotels and food establishments.”

The method of instruction is done online via videos. Students receive quick feedback, and have the ability to track learning progress in real-time through a detailed dashboard. Complementary to the program, students will also receive support and mentorship from CCA Manila faculty, live assessments, and have the opportunity to use the kitchen and laboratory facilities of the school.

The pandemic has created various challenges including a significant barrier to in-person learning that an online option can help alleviate. Trinidad added, “Even though the pandemic disrupted the traditional learning in the kitchen, it doesn’t prevent us from bringing learning right to your kitchens.”
