Just two weeks ago, chef Robby Goco, Manny Torrejon, and Raymund Magdaluyo launched Cangrejos Locos at the Molito Lifestyle Center in Alabang. With Raymund of The Red Crab Group of Restaurants on board, only the freshest crabs and seafood will be served. Manny of Manolo’s takes charge of the tapas.

Cangrejos Locos (which means “crazy crabs”) is a modern full-service Spanish restaurant that differentiates itself from others in the city by offering quick meals at approachable prices. “The idea is a Spanish restaurant that is comfortable and accessible where people can come in, have an enjoyable meal and dine with us on a regular basis,” Chef Robby said.

The restaurant specializes in Barcelona-style paella and Spanish-style crabs. It also serves Spanish cuisine such as hot and cold tapas, huevos, platos de cucharas, carnes, and desserts. The paella, developed by Chef Robby, is made Barcelona-style, with a layer of socarrat (or tutong) and an order takes less than 12 minutes to cook. The paella is good for three persons but you may order for up to 20 persons. For those watching their carbohydrates intake, the restaurant has a paella made with cauliflower rice and served with steak and bone marrow!

Start off your meal with classic tapas like croquetas (which I loved), Salpicao, Gambas al Ajillo, Gildas (the restaurant makes its own anchovies) or boquerones. Pair them with a glass of wine from an all-Spanish wine list.  Don’t fail to order the delicious navajas (razor clams), which are flown live from Spain! The Arroz a Banda and Mushroom and asparagus paella are best paired with carnes such as Costillas de Cerdo and Roast Beef Belly; while the Paella Mixta and Valenciana are good with dishes like fabada and callos. Enjoy traditional Spanish desserts like Churros and Crema Catalana or enjoy Basque Cheesecake by Marlene Monfort.

(Cangrejos Locos is located at Molito Lifestyle Center, Madrigal Ave. cor. Commerce Ave., Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City. For reservations and inquiries, call 0945-6775259. Visit Cangrejos Locos on Facebook and @cangrejoslocosmnl on Instagram.)
