A touch of local luxury this holiday season

The trend that seems to be here to stay is to go local. I personally love how Filipinos are becoming more and more proud every day to support their own local design industries. Going local often means these beautiful, often very vibrant designs infused with local weaves and materials, but not everyone is a fan of that boho chic look. I love how Philux Home offers an alternative: stunning locally designed and handcrafted home items with a decidedly luxurious and contemporary feel.

This local luxury is particularly embodied in their latest series, the Pacific capsule collection. “This collection basically tells the story of our everyday mundane lives that, in many ways, are very relatable,” explains Philux COO Stephanie Kienle-Gonzales. “Jess and I were inspired by our own homes and the home that we both grew up in. We wanted to create the perfect sofa — the Pacific sectional — that is suitable for every family and every space. A sofa so versatile it can be used in a formal living room setting, or in the TV den where the family would enjoy lounging in.”

Her sister, Jessica Kienle-Maxwell, Philux Head Designer, declares that the Pacific sectional is truly one of her favorite designs. “It is the highlight of this collection! It’s a modular sectional sofa that allows for various configurations using the different modules — a two-seater, three-seater or a meridienne, and all come with armrest options. This makes the sectional versatile enough for big homes and small condos. It has wide and deep seat cushions and a set of loose back cushions, which ensure great back comfort. Its tapered legs are made of metal that comes in different finishes.”

Even after a series of highly creative, niche collaborations with personalities such as Solenn Heussaff and Bea Valdes, I love how Philux has remained true to their core all these years. Form, function, versatility and design at highly affordable prices. They have always been and is still proudly 100 percent Filipino.

The Philux Home showroom at Shangri-La at the Fort also retails a tastefully curated selection of home accessories that are also mostly Philippine made.  From embroidered throw pillows to scented candles, placemats and other decorative items. It’s a great place to shop for the holidays! Even for the kids with specially designed teepees and adorable crochet toys.
