Disney On Ice celebrates ‘Everyone’s Story’ at MOA Arena

Disney On Ice is one Christmas tradition Filipino families couldn’t miss. Since it came to the Philippines in the ‘90s, the annual event has worked its magic into the hearts of many a young Filipino.

But just because it’s a tradition doesn’t mean the people behind it — Feld Entertainment — are stuck with the good ol’ fashion fun.

This year, Disney On Ice celebrates “Everyone’s Story” by telling inspiring stories that we’ve all loved since we were young. And in every Disney story, there are never-ending characters who continue to inspire us to be our best selves.

“The idea behind ‘Everyone’s Story’ is quite unique. Through this production, we want you to share the inspiration, share the aspiration, the characteristics that really brought Disney closer to you — whether it be a story, a song, or a movie that you really enjoyed,” explained Blake Tatroe, Feld Entertainment regional marketing director. “And today (Dec. 5), more than any other day, is quite special because it’s the birthday of Walt Disney, the brains and the imagination that brought all of us here together.”

What’s your Christmas story?

We all have a Christmas story to tell. For Blake, it’s all about being away from his family during the holidays just so he could bring the magic of Disney to its fans in the Philippines.

“It’s going to be my sixth Christmas away from my family. When I flew in yesterday, I looked at my wife and apologized. But I have to admit that I’m actually excited to come to the Philippines and to spread holiday cheer to kids of all ages,” said Blake. “On a personal level, that delivers the same message as to why Feld Entertainment continues to bring Disney On Ice back to Manila.”

For Arnel Gonzales, assistant vice president of Mall of Asia Arena, Disney On Ice is a family tradition when he was a kid up until now that he has his own family.
“As a kid, my parents would take me and my siblings ‘somewhere out there’ to celebrate Christmas with the Disney On Ice family. During that time, MOA Arena wasn’t constructed yet,” shared Arnel with an impish grin. “This is the second time that we’re hosting Disney On Ice at MOA Arena. It’s a cool partnership not only with Feld Entertainment but Disney as a whole.”

So what can one expect from this year’s Disney On Ice?

Well, three magical things: more than 50 characters from 14 Disney stories will come to life at the MOA Arena; more than 30 of your favorite Disney tunes will be played for you to sing and dance to; and for the first time, Zootopia’s Nick and Judy will have an appearance in an exclusive pre-show.

Mouse-ter of Ceremonies Micky Mouse, sweetheart Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy take to the ice with their friends from beloved Disney movies that span decades — from Pinocchio to Frozen.

Travel to the heart of Africa with Disney’s The Lion King, come along for an adventure of friendship with the gang from Disney Pixar’s Toy Story and watch in amazement as Belle breaks the Beast’s curse in the tale of Beauty and the Beast.

Making their Disney On Ice debut, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Zootopia enlist the crowd to help solve an off-ice caper that must be cracked for the on-ice action to begin.
“Disney On Ice being a theatrical product presents some challenges in engaging the audience. The pre-show featuring Nick and Judy of Zootopia is one way of doing that. They will be outside the rink to interact with kids,” explained Blake.

Guests will also enjoy a special appearance of royal sisters Anna and Elsa from the Disney’s Frozen.

Disney On Ice’s “Everyone’s Story” is by far the largest Disney On Ice show that Feld Entertainment has mounted.

“Our vision is for audiences everywhere to dance and sing along to their favorite Disney songs, so we’ve included 30 tunes that they know and love,” shared producer Nicole Feld.

To put together a captivating show with a cavalcade of Disney characters, the father-daughter producing duo of Kenneth Feld and Nicole Feld called on the best and brightest in the business. With director Patty Vincent leadint the way and a creative team of choreographers and designers, “Disney On Ice Celebrates Everyone’s Story” is sure to be a timeless favorite among all Disney fans.
