Celebrate the hero in you

KAPUSO DAY - Angel Javier Cruz - The Philippine Star
Celebrate the hero in you
Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera

At one point in our lives, we all dreamed of being superheroes, to wear a cape, fly, be invisible or even read minds. Even more enthralling is how these noble heroes demonstrate their extraordinary powers and superhuman abilities to save people in need.

As we get older, we realize that not all heroes wear capes and have mystic powers, but they actually come in mundane forms. And that our extraordinary actions can make all of us a hero.

This year, GMA Network and Runrio Events, Inc. together with YesPinoy Foundation team up to stage the The Color Run Hero Tour 2018. Dubbed as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, the Color Run is an untimed and unique paint running event that promotes healthiness, happiness and individuality.

Taking place at Mckinley West, Taguig on Nov. 18, the Color Run is not only for sports enthusiasts but more importantly for family and friends who want to bond and enjoy while becoming “heroes” for others in need.

For Kapuso couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, being a hero means putting others before oneself.

“A hero, for me, does not need a cape or super power to strive for causes greater than one’s self. With his or her heart at the right place, one can be a hero by helping empower others so that they may be able to help not only themselves but also other people in need,” said Dingdong.

(I believe that there is a hero in each one of us, especially when it comes to the things we believe in and those we care about. This does not require any power or extraordinary capabilities. What matters most is the willingness to do good and help other people in our own way — may it be big or small).”

The main beneficiaries of The Color Run Hero Tour 2018 are students and communities from 10 vulnerable schools under YesPinoy’s disaster resilience program called I Am Super. These schools are located in areas prone to disasters, both natural and man-made, that YesPinoy has identified together with the Department of Education.

“Last September, we celebrated disaster-preparedness month. The I Am Super campaign is perfect to be able to raise awareness and to encourage everyone to become a hero in their own communities,” related Runrio president Rio dela Cruz.

A social advocacy started by Dingdong in August 2009, YesPinoy aims to empower and engage the Filipino youth to be responsible citizens and stewards of the planet. This was also the year when the nation was devastated by Typhoon Ondoy which struck regions across the country, especially Metro Manila.

“We all have the capacity to lend a helping hand in any way we can, no matter how big or small. By engaging in activities like the Color Run, we are able to foster a community who believes in sharing especially for noble causes, and sees that there is a hero in all of us,” said Dingdong.

Various GMA personalities and Barangay LS 97.1 DJs will also troop to the colorful event to enjoy a wide mix of adventures with other participants.

Along the course, runners can paint their aspirations on the dream wall and snap whimsical photos with giant unicorns as they party with friends and Kapuso artists at the Finish Festival amidst vibrant bursts of color throws.

Create unforgettable experiences, unleash your superhero within and turn your superpowers into reality at The Color Run Hero Tour 2018.
