Business As Usual

A dialogue with the ambassador

A dialogue with the ambassador
Your columnist, British Embassy Manila consul Martin O’Neill and Jayelles’ Tara Litton

Ambassador of the United Kingdom Daniel Pruce invited members of the media for an elegant reception at his residence in Makati City. The event was a significant gather- ing between journalists, writers, and members of the free press in order to discuss the importance of media freedom in the age of fake news and propaganda. The ambassador started his speech by greeting everyone in fluent Tagalog and even quoted the late great Sir Winston Churchill, saying, “A free press is the unsleeping guardian of every other right that free men prize; it is the most dangerous foe of tyranny.” Thank you to Ambassador Daniel Pruce and his team at the British Embassy Manila for a most inspiring evening!

A wonderful assistance

A momentous memorandum of agreement signing between the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines and the Erehwon Art Foundation, Inc. took place at the University of Makati in Makati City. The FCCP is endowing the foundation with a one-time grant as assis- tance to its Erehwon Dance Troupe. Seen in the photo are (seated, from left) Letty Hahn, FCCP Scholarship Committee director Nonie Basilio, Erehwon Art Foundation, Inc. executive direc- tor Greg de Leon, FCCP president Tessie Rodrigo, Dr. Elenita Binay and Boysie Villavicencio with (standing, from left) Ningning de Ocampo, Sol Tan Gatue, Karen Macasaet, Rose Lazaro, Baby de Jesus and Gay Jamias. Kudos to the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines for this generous act!

An important remembrance

The always faithful Minerva Tanseco makes it a point to organize a recollection every Lenten season and sponsored by Josie Razon. To introduce the recollection master Fr. Richard Garrido, a fine dinner was hosted by Minerva at Chef Jessie in Rockwell, Makati City and was attended by (seated) Cristina Caedo, Josie Razon, Fr. Richard Garrido and Minerva Tanseco with (standing, from left) Jun Salientes, Beng Fores, Marita Salientes, Chari Ortigas Mantilla, chef Jessie Sincioco and Boysie Villavicencio. Have a meaningful Holy Week, ladies and gents!
