Towards a digital future

The conference will be on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. hosted by the Carlos P. Romulo Foundation in collaboration with PLDT Enterprise with the support of Huawei, Philippine Airlines and DellEMC.

One session should be of particular interest to government – An Ecosystem for a Digital Philippines. The session will look at the dimensions of the legal, policy, regulatory and institutional ecosystem required. It is hoped that the session will provide the opportunity to make meaningful contribution to the ongoing conversation on how the Philippines is preparing for the digital economy - drawing from the perspective of government and the private sector.

“Adopting to the new ways of doing things as a result of technology requires a change of traditional mindsets, and so policies that encourage their adoption rather than inhibit them should be put in place. What are the appropriate elements of a national strategy that will encourage the adoption of digital technology and the generation of associated investments required from both public and private sectors? How will it deal with the disruptions associated with the adoption of technology-driven new ways of doing things? How can collaboration between business, government, academe and civil society be harnessed in support of such a strategy?”

Invited speakers are NEDA Secretary Ernesto Pernia, Marcus Tong of Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Peter Lovelock of Technology Research Project Corporate and Manuel V. Pangilinan of PLDT/Smart. Moderator will be Coco Alcuaz of the Makati Business Club.
