Profound Change in China

READER’S VIEWS - The Freeman

On September 1, 2021 Xi Jinping addressed party officials at the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee National Academy of Governance. A leftist blogger named Li Guangman published a report on it in the Communist Party’s main mouthpiece Xinhua News. It also appears in the widely read Peoples’ Daily. Bloomberg  comments on it in an  article dubbed: Could China’s Crackdown Be a Second Cultural Revolution?  But I cannot find a written  translation of the article from Mandarin into English.

Only the British South African YouTuber Winston Sterzel, known as SerpentZA in the internet, who lived for a decade or so in China translates passages of what he calls an official document of the CCP. Xi wants every Chinese to read and absorb “Grandpa Xi’s Thought”.

“The United States is implementing increasingly severe military threat, economic and technological blockades, financial strikes, political and financial seizures against China and is launching biological warfare and cyber warfare and public opinion warfare against China.”

Biological warfare? Hmm! An allusion to Fort Detrick?

“If we further rely on this big capitalism main force and if we are still catering to the American strategy, so that our young generation loses its strong and masculine vibes, than we don’t need enemies to fight. We have already fallen, just like the Soviet Union back then, letting the country collapse, letting the country’s wealth be looted and letting the people fall into serious disaster. Therefore the profound change is currently taking place in China precisely in correspondence to the severe and complicated international situation, precisely in response to the barbaric and ferocious attacks the U.S. has begun to launch against China.”

I do not write on repression of celebrities, effeminate boy-stars, English teachers, the film industry, millionaires,  Jack Ma’s $15 million ‘charitable donation’, minorities forced to speak Mandarin etc., because those are profusely reported in Western media. I focus on the political changes described  in the Xinhua News: A transformation from capital-centered to people-centered.

“The People are the main force and all those drunk of western-style capitalism who try to block this people-centered change will be discarded. We will return to the essence of socialism.”

“This change will wash away all the dirt, the capitalist market will no longer be a paradise for nymphomaniac entertainers to get rich overnight, and the media and public opinion will no longer be a platform for worshipping and adoring western print media, film and TV stars.”

“The return of red, the return of heroes and the return of blood, therefore we need to control all cultural chaos and build a lively, healthy, masculine, strong and people-oriented culture. We need to crack down on the chaos of big capital manipulation, platform monopoly and bad money driving out good money in the capital market. We need to guide the flow of funds to entity enterprises, high-tech enterprises and to the manufacturing industry.”

“Laborers of the common people will become the protagonists and masters of literature and art...” and so on with all that communist rhetoric blasted out against us democrats. Xi’s imaginary enemies. Stay awesome, Filipinos!
