Regarding Afghanistan

READER’S VIEWS - The Freeman

USA president Biden had the guts to do what should have been done 10 years ago. No reason to be there, in fact the surrounding countries often supported the rebels, making the job of the allies, the coalition of democracies, even harder.

Let's let China, Pakistan, Russia and Iran fight over the spoils --keeping them busy instead of the Americans and their allies.

Why support a country's whose soldiers run away at the first opportunity and have no faith in their central government?

I'm a Canadian. The American president Bush the Bully should have never gotten involved with that country in the first place 20 years ago. He was an impulsive imbecile.

Approximately $23 billion worth of arms were left for the Taliban.

Further if you divide the money the US spent ($3 trillion) on by its population of 38 million the US spent basically $78,000 American for each man woman and child in Afghanistan! Yet it collapsed within a few days!

The money was totally wasted.

They should have gotten out of there a long time ago. You cannot prop up a government that is corrupt and people who would not even fight!

Now there are several million refugees fleeing to other countries.

If they all had a rifle and rocket launchers maybe they could have defended the country.

Americans should not be propping up Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Why give your friend a gun to shoot you? Is he really your friend?

Afghanistan is and will remain a failed state. Let the local countries take charge like China, which has a strong anti-Muslim approach.

In summary Afghanistan was a complete disaster, yet we have to thank the current USA president for making the hard decisions to get out.
