DC Abay-Abay hands undermanned Truck N’ Trail first loss

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The DC Abay-Abay ballers dealt the short-handed Truck N’ Trail its first loss, 128-77, in what is by far the most lopsided win in the Lycans Basketball League (LBL) Season 1 over the weekend at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) gym.

Cesar Abapo piled up 28 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals for DC Abay-Abay, which never looked back after racing to a hot 15-6 start.

DC Abay-Abay grew even hotter as the game progressed on the way to a merciless 51-point demolition of TNT, which was heavily undermanned playing only with only six players.

Rocky Vallente and Nimrod Amorin also figured prominently for DC Abay-Abay with 17 and 14 points, respectively.

Brian Macasero fired 23 points, eight assists and six steals while Bensan Aropo tallied 16 markers on top of eight rebounds but their efforts proved futile as TNT saw its two-game winning run come to a sudden red stop.

In the other game, Joher prevailed over Aquilla, 101-94, in their down-the-wire duel.

Aquilla pulled within just a hairline, 94-95, in the closing seconds of the contest but Miko “The Dark Ninja” Pahugot racked up six straight points to seal Joher’s first victory.

Pahugot topped Joher with 31 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists, six steals and three blocks in an all-around hardcourt brilliance.

He was ably backed up by Jeff Herrera and Earl Sanchez with 27 combined points.

Jhamir Ranceli fired 32 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals but to no avail as Aquilla tasted its second defeat in three starts. Nek De los Santos had 19 points, James Villafuerte scored 15, while RR Luceno and Sniper Goc-ong connived for 23 points in a losing effort. — EBV
