Alfa Wanbatz nails back-to-back wins in Amicis hoop

CEBU, Philippines —  Jay-R Artizuela fired 20 points on top of three rebounds and three assists to power Alfa Wanbatz to a 77-65 drubbing of the Persecutors in the 30-above division of the Amicis Basketball League (ABL) Season 2 at the Tayud barangay gym in Consolacion.

Alfa Wanbatz never looked back since cruising to a sizzling 23-15 start on the way to notch its second straight victory.

Dodong Cavan, Dennis Batav and John Haniel Abinales connived for 27 points but to no avail as the Persecutors suffered their second loss in three starts.

On the other hand, Alvie Alviola erupted for 27 points laced with five assists and four steals as the Miners outclassed the Casili Residences, 83-75.

Eleazar Opendo and Benigno Tiongzon also figured prominently with 41 combined points for the Miners, who now hold a 2-1 record.

Casili Residences crashed to its second loss in a row despite drawing 22 points from Dexy John Suico and 17 points from Steve Golingan.

In the other result,  Joseph Gerundio scattered 23 points, three rebounds and three assists as the Los Amigos barged into the win column via a 77-60 rout of Top Gun.

Gerundio was backed up by Mark Cuadra with 17 points and Joefar Gerundio with 10 markers.

Kier Semilla and Rex Bendano tallied 38 points in between them but their efforts proved futile as Top Gun stayed winless after two games. — EBV
