PBA Govs’ Cup kicks off today
CEBU, Philippines — The highly anticipated 46th PBA Governor's Cup takes off today with an exciting double-header on tap at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
All eyes will be on Arwind Santos, a nine-time champion with the San Miguel Beermen, who will open a new chapter in his career with NorthPort.
Santos will make his debut with Batang Pier against the Alaska Aces in the opening match at 3 p.m.
Bannered by import Cameron Forte, Santos will also be playing alongside Robert Bolick and Greg Slaughter in NorthPort uniform.
Interestingly, Santos' former team San Miguel will also be seeing action against the NLEX Road Warriors in the 6 p.m. main encounter.
Brandon Brown is expected to be at the helm of SMB's campaign, while NLEX will count the most from the explosive KJ McDaniels.
For its season-ending conference, the PBA plays five days in a week with breaks on Monday and Tuesday in a single round robin elimination phase where the 12 teams fight for the Top Four spots to enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
The semifinals will be a best-of-five affair while the finals will be best-of-seven. — EBV
