All set for VisMin Super Cup 2nd Conference

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup led by no less than its CEO Rocky Chan and COO Chelito Caro held an online meeting with team owners and officials recently to finalize everything about league’s second conference set to kick off next month.

Taken up were the preparations for the second conference bubble, the new guidelines for players, and the requirements for Games and Amusement Board (GAB) licensing among other important matters.

VisMin officials confirmed that the league’s bubble play will be staged in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur starting on November 6, barring any hitches.

A maximum of 20 players are allowed on the team’s lineup, but only 15 will play per game. Of the 15, there will be a minimum of three homegrown players, six from Luzon or ex-pro, while the others should be from the Visayas-Mindanao area. Also, the five players on the court at any given time should be limited to two ex-pros or Luzon-based cagers, two from any VisMin area, and one homegrown or local talent.

The league has set a maximum salary cap of P40,000 for players.

The tournament follows a single round-robin format. The bottom eight teams will be eliminated right away, while the top four will enjoy twice-to-beat advantage against the No.5 to No.8 teams in the quarterfinal playoffs. The semifinals will be a one-game knockout, while the championship will be a best-of-three series.

Unlike in the previous conference, there will be no incentives for a team that will sweep the elimination round. In the event of a tie, the winner over the other rule or the quotient system will be applied.

Chan said the changes in the rules and regulations were based on the requests of fans.

VisMin Super Cup consultant Chino Trinidad was also present during the meeting. He reminded everyone on the primordial goal of establishing the country’s first ever pro basketball league outside of Manila.

“This is gonna be a developmental League. We don’t want to end up as a dumping ground. We want to focus on our own homegrown. A younger and more dynamic league,” Trinidad said. — EBV with report from visminsupercup.com
