More PUVs  join  Libreng Sakay program of government

CEBU, Philippines —  The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board -7 has announced that more Transport Service Cooperatives and Transport Corporations have joined the fleet of the Libreng Sakay under the Service Contracting Program 3.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the LTFRB, in a Facebook post, expressed thanks to the conductors, drivers and operators for their continued service and concern for the commuters.

Under this program, Health Care Workers and Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) will again be served well as the general public.

The following routes are now ready to serve the riding public in Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu South and Cebu North:

For Cebu City: Cebu City Hall-IT Park, Banawa-Panagdait, Guadalupe-Carbon. Laray-Inayawan Colon, Bulacao-SM, Labangon-SM, Basak Ibabao-Colon, Talisay-Parkmall, Talisay-SM Seaside via SRP, SM Cebu-SM Seaside, Talisay-MCIA, Pit-os Talamban-Colon bia Echavez, Apas-Lahug-Ramos-Carbon, Labangon-Ayala-Colon, Talamban-Colon, Guba-Cebu Business Park, Banawa-Carbon, Apas-Lahug-Jones-Carbon, Optra-Carbon, Cebu City Hospital Loop Service Southside, Cebu City Hospital Loop Service Northside, and Mandaue City Hospitals Loop Services.

For Lapu-Lapu City: Marigondon-Public Market via MEPZ 1, Corodva-MEPZ 1 via Public Market, Mactan Doctors Hospital-Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, and Liloan-MEPZA.

For Cebu South the routes are: Cebu City-Alcoy, Cebu City-Moalboal, Cebu City- Pinamungajan via Toledo, Cebu City to Balamban via Toledo, SRP IL Corso-IT Park, Cebu City Hospitals-Carcar City via N. Bacalso and UCMED-Carcar.

For Cebu North: Tabogon-North Bus Terminal, Borbon-North Bus Terminal, Cebu City-Bogo City, Cebu City-Tabogon, Cebu City-Tuburan via Lugo, Danao Provincial Hospital-Mactan Doctors Hospital and Carmen-Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Under this program, financial incentives are given to participating drivers who are already onboarded apart from payment to them for the kilometer run they made.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 11494, or Bayanihan to Recover As One, the Service Contracting Program aims to ensure reliable and safe public transportation for commuters.

This program was implemented to provide additional revenue for drivers and operators affected by the implementation of public health and safety protocols caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. — JMD (FREEMAN)
