CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Government is spending P17 million in incentives to the more than 3,400 police and military personnel including linemen from power distributors who helped the local government in the road clearing operations and restoration of power lines after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.
Each of the 3,413 personnel from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Visayan Electric and Cebu Electric Cooperative (CEBECO) 1, 2 and 3 will get P5,000 from the Capitol.
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the ceremonial turnover of the cash incentives at the Capitol Social Hall yesterday.
The record shows that 2,609 police personnel will receive the incentive, 99 from the Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG)- 7 of the AFP; 31 personnel from the 53rd Engineer Brigade of the Philippine Army; and 94 personnel from the AFP Task Group Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor.
There are also 36 personnel from the Visayan Electric; 165 from CEBECO 1; 213 from CEBECO II; and 166 from CEBECO III.
Garcia said the incentive serves as a token of appreciation from the Capitol for helping out in the road clearing immediately after the typhoon and the immediate restoration of the power lines as well as in the overall rehabilitation efforts of the province.
