Cebu City's COVID-19 efforts hailed

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu City was named as the best local government unit in the region with best practices for COVID-19 Center during the first Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health Summit at Bai Hotel the other day.

Cebu City Emergency Operation Center (EOC) bested Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu cities for the said recognition spearheaded by the Department of Health-7.

Cebu City Medical Center added glitter for Cebu City after being named as among the top three LGU hospitals along with Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital and Toledo City General Hospital.

On the other hand, the municipality of Borbon had its hands full after being named as one of the Active in Risk Management, Outstanding In Risk Reduction in Emergencies and Disasters (ARMORRED) Awards and for having the best DRRM-H Team and the LGU with Best Practices.

Other top 10 ARMORRED awardees were the municipalities of Tuburan, Bantayan, San Fernando and Getafe, along with the cities of Mandaue, Bogo, Lapu-Lapu, Danao and Dumaguete.

Lapu-Lapu also got the Best Health Emergency Response Team.

Meanwhile, the likes of Cebu South Medical Center, Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital and Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital were named top 3 DOH Hospitals.

Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center was recognized for its Best Health Commodities, the Province of Bohol got the Best Functional Operation Center, and Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital with the health Facility with most household members trained.

Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital also got two awards, the best Hospital DRRM-H Team and hospital with Best Practices.
