CEBU, Philippines — Local government units in Metro Cebu duplicated their first day numbers on Day 2 of the nationwide vaccination campaign against COVID-19.

In Cebu City alone, at least 31,032 doses were administered, based on data from the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC). At least 29,766 first doses, 568 second doses, and 698 booster shots were administered.

This is 96 percent of the city’s original target number of doses.

On the first day, Cebu City administered 31,315 doses, mostly for the first dose.

Lapu-Lapu, on the other hand, saw 13,298 more doses administered; Mandaue with 7,334; Talisay with 8,158; Naga with 3,535; Minglanilla with 5,152; Consolacion with 6.041; Cordova with 2,241; and Liloan with 2,674 as of 10 am yesterday.

Lapu-Lapu achieved 136 percent of its total daily target doses, the highest in Metro Cebu.

As a whole, Metro Cebu achieved 90 percent of its target doses with a total of 79,475 doses administered out of the 87,819 target doses.

For the first two days plus some data from the third day, Cebu City achieved 72.14 percent of its target with 69,920 jabs administered of the 96,924 doses committed.

Lapu-Lapu, for its part, achieved 101.74 percent after administering a total of 29,748 doses, higher than its committed doses of 29,239.

Mandaue, for its part, reached 75 percent with 16,920 doses of the 22,512 target doses administered.

Meanwhile, based on initial reports, the rest of Cebu Province administered a total of 172,656 doses or 27.22 percent of its target of 634,395 doses.

Reporting of data were delayed due to several factors, including slow internet connection.

Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and presidential spokesperson, Karlo Nograles, said the national government is now finalizing the second round of nationwide vaccination. It is expected to take place from December 15 and 17, 2021.
