Wedding 'scammer' arrested for another estafa case
Police Lt. Colonel Elovio Marquez, information officer of MCPO, said the accused, Naser Fuentes, was arrested for his standing warrant of arrest for estafa that was committed and filed in 2013.

CEBU, Philippines —  The City Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Mandaue City Police Office has arrested the wedding coordinator accused of scamming a couple by pretending to arrange for their wedding reception in Minglanilla, Cebu.

Police Lt. Colonel Elovio Marquez, information officer of MCPO, said the accused, Naser Fuentes, was arrested for his standing warrant of arrest for estafa that was committed and filed in 2013.

His bench warrant was issued after he failed to attend the court hearings.

Marquez said that they were able to recheck the records of the bench warrant of Fuentes following his hospitalization in a hospital in Mandaue City after he tried to take his own life by slitting his wrist.

Investigation revealed that Fuentes has a standing warrant of arrest for estafa after he allegedly failed to comply with what has been agreed on the same modus he committed against the couple in Minglanilla.

The police also encouraged the public who was possibly victimized by Fuentes to come forward so that the police may be able to assist them in filing the complaint.

It was reported that Fuentes, the coordinator who allegedly scammed a couple for their wedding reception, was rushed to the hospital after reportedly committed suicide by slitting off his wrist.

The Consolacion police confirmed that at around 11 a.m. Thursday, they received a report from the barangay officials of Casili that Fuentes had attempted to take his own life inside his rented room.

Fuentes reportedly signed a waiver declaring that he refused to be admitted to the hospital. — GMR (FREEMAN)
