MANILA, Philippines — If your day-to-day life involves driving a vehicle, there’s a big chance that you are using Aisin products without even knowing it.

Aisin is the world’s leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of automotive products including engines, drivetrain and lubricants. Initially established as Tokai Koku Kogyo Company Limited, the company went from manufacturing aircraft engines to making sewing machines and clutch discs in the 1940s.

In 1953, it was renamed Shinkawa Kogyo Co., Ltd. and has expanded its product line to oil pumps, door latches and bumper jacks. It later merged with its sister company Aichi Kogyo Co., Ltd. to form Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. in 1965 and it went on to produce intake manifolds, pistons and two-speed semi-automatic transmissions.

At the turn of the decade, Aisin Seiki enters into a partnership with U.S.-based Borg-Warner to establish Aisin-Warner Limited, which specializes in the manufacture of automatic transmissions. Last April 2021, the said venture was merged with Aisin Seiki to form Aisin Corporation.

Aisin is currently a member of the Toyota Group of Companies and is ranked 359th in the Fortune Global 500.

The company manufactures over 10,000 automotive parts including innovative equipment like power sliding doors, touchless power tailgate, navigation system and high-end automatic and manual gearboxes.

Aisin products are fitted as standard in many automotive brands like Toyota, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Honda, Isuzu, Ford, Volvo, Audi, GM and Chrysler.

Collaboration, integration with other manufacturers

ADVICS Company Limited is a joint-venture with Toyota Motor Corporation, Denso Corporation and Sumitomo Electric Industries Limited, with Aisin having 60% stake. ADVICS (Advanced Intelligent Chassis Systems) manufactures premium original equipment brake system components and is one of the top three brake manufacturers globally.

Established in 1945, ART Metal Manufacturing Company Limited is an OEM of automotive and in 2017, the company was integrated with Aisin Seiki.  In 2020 it was awarded The Deming Prize, the longest-running and one of the highest awards on Total Quality Management in the world.

Inspiring movement, creating tomorrow

Aisin aspires to bring freedom and happiness through mobility by formulating concrete solutions to environmental and social challenges, focusing on the utilization of clean energy to ensure a safe and comfortable future for all.

Upholding the new corporate principle of “Inspiring ‘movement’, creating tomorrow,” the company will contribute to the evolution of mobility while providing the global population with inspirational “movement” experiences.

Aisin strives to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 as it brings together the technological and manufacturing capabilities perfected in mobility and energy-related businesses with the objective of becoming a solution company that contributes to a healthier, happier and more inspired society.
