STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos-Recto reacted to the new set of National Artists named for 2022.

Through a chat group of her fans, the actress extended her congratulations to the newly minted National Artists. She also told her fans not to feel bad that she was not among those chosen for the distinct honor.

Among those chosen as National Artist for 2022 is her “kumare” Nora Aunor who was feted for her achievements in the field of film and broadcast arts.

“Isang pagpupugay ang dapat nating ibigay sa ating bagong set of National Artists. Bawat isa sa kanila ay may angking galing at talino na lubos na kahanga-hanga. Taos puso kong binabati silang lahat,” said Ate Vi.

Even if she has expressed joy for those chosen as National Artists, there are some fans of Ate Vi who became sad because their idol was not in the list.

“Huwag na kayo maging malungkot. Naniniwala ako na sa mundong ito, if anything is meant to happen, it will find its way,” was her message to her fans.

Ate Vi will have her time to be declared National Artist.

Brand new mother Angeline Quinto is now the CEO of Twinqle, the baby product line business she built while still pregnant with her first born, Sylvio.

The launching of her product line was held Wednesday, nJune 15, at the Chantara Room of Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.

Angeline said she thought of this online business selling of baby products so she can help mothers who want to earn their keep even while they stay at home and are taking care of their babies.

While still pregnant, Angeline had a lot of questions on health issues affecting babies and how best to take care of her newborn. She really wanted to be ready as a new mom who is excited to take care of her baby.

“I was not health conscious before and I rarely take good care of myself but when I gave birth, I realized I needed to be healthy for Sylvio. I also needed to change my lifestyle and go on a diet to keep myself healthy,” she explains.

From being the Queen of Teleserye theme songs, she is now a certified mompreneur with the launch of her baby product line.

While interviewing Angeline together with two media friends after the presscon, we noticed the ring on her finger and told her, “Siguro engaged ka na.”

Instead of saying no, she said “How did you know?” so we concluded without Angeline affirming it that she is indeed engaged to the father of Sylvio. She is wearing a beautiful ring on her finger and she’s not hiding it from our prying eyes. So we surmised that is her engagement ring.

Angeline need not ask “Bakit ninyo alam?” The ring on her finger says it all.

Yesterday was a red-letter day for the newly declared National Artists as they were formally presented their awards by President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacanang.

Among the awardees is multi-awarded screenwriter Ricardo “Ricky” Lee. When asked how he learned he was among the newly-minted NA, he said his assistant showed him the news on TV Patrol last Friday. Before he could even react, he was deluged with congratulatory texts, calls, and messages.

He said he realized he is very lucky because being named National Artist with him are two women from the industry he loves very much – Nora Aunor and the late director Marilou Diaz-Abaya.

Ricky added that the award is important, not only to him, but also to all scriptwriters, since oftentimes it is only the director and the actors who are mentioned when talking about movies.

He said the award is a gentle reminder that the scriptwriter is also a big element in the making of a movie. That is why he is very thankful for his fellow artists who trusted and gave him the award.

We wish that Ricky and Nora will collaborate on a new film.
