Kylie Padilla returns to primetime in sports series

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

We are happy for the victory of Sharon Cuneta as Best Actress at the sixth GEMS Hiyas ng Sining Awards. Our beloved Megastar won for her performance in the Daryll Yap movie “Revirginized” that was streamed on Vivamax.

When she agreed to do the film, Sharon was the first to say that she was nervous and was kind of questioning herself as the role was something new for her. But she liked the script and doing the film would be akin to an experiment since she really wanted to try something out of the box – not the usual stuff we’ve associated her with.

We were pleasantly surprised that Sharon won at the GEMS Awards. She won over Alessandra De Rossi (My Amanda), Charo Santos (Kun Maupay Man It Panahon), Janine Gutierrez (Dito at Doon), and Kylie Versoza (The Housemaid).

Of course, the Sharonians are happy that their idol won. They greeted her in her social media accounts. With the win, we hope Sharon gets inspired to do more films. Will she agree to do another Daryll Yap project? That remains to be seen.

The Megastar is still busy taping for “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.” She has yet to shoot scenes with Coco Martin, which is something that her fans are waiting for.

The Sharonians also wish to see her and Coco together in a movie. And they hope it will come soon.

It looks like BenTria Productions’ maiden offering titled “Broken Blooms” is destined to bring good luck to the new production outfit.

The movie directed by Louie Ignacio from the script of the award-winning Ralston Jover is set to have its world premiere in a prestigious international film festival.

“Broken Blooms” is the launching movie of Kapuso hunk Jeric Gonzales. It also features Ms. Jaclyn Jose, Therese Malvar, Royce Cabrera, Boobay, Lou Veloso, Mimi Juareza, Cherry Alcala-Malvar and Rico Barrera.

According to line-producer Dennis C. Evangelista, they cannot reveal yet which international film festival “Broken Blooms” is slated to make its grand world premiere. We are pretty sure that Direk Louie is happy with this bit of news.

Making her comeback to the primetime slot is Kylie Padilla who will be the lead in the GMA Drama sports series tentatively titled “#Bolera” where she will portray a billiards player.

Her leading man in the series is Rayver Cruz, while other cast members are Jaclyn Jose, Gardo Versoza and Joey Marquez who is also returning in the Kapuso network.

In the teaser announcement on Kylie’s comeback, the daughter of Robin Padilla and ex-wife of Aljur Abrenica was called Queen. Is it proper to call her as such? Does she deserve the title? This might trigger a reaction from GMA Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.

Come to think of it, what is the basis or criteria that makes a star or personality to be called a queen? We should be prudent in giving titles as king or queen to any actor or actress.

To be fair to Superstar Nora Aunor, The Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, and The Diamond Star Maricel Soriano, they worked long and hard to be deserving of the titles bestowed upon them.
