Vince Rillon: Rising sexy actor of Vivamax's 'Siklo'

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky Calderon - The Freeman

On the rise and continuously evolving, 23-year-old Vince Rillon has emerged as one of the most important and serious Filipino actors to watch for in 2022. His first foray into acting was the Isabel Huppert-starrer "Captive" (2012) which competed in Berlin and was directed by Brillante Mendoza. He was also in the Cannes 2016 winner "Ma’ Rosa" and in Mindanao, which won at the Cairo International Film Festival (2019).

He starred in top international streaming platform Netflix’s "Amo" (2017), and HBO Asia’s "Gensan Punch" (2021), which bagged the Kim Jiseok Award at the Busan International Film Festival.

A reluctant actor, Vince said it was only when he did "Amo" that he realized that he wanted to make acting a career. When he earned praise for his performance, it dawned on him that he ought to be serious about acting.

His father was a cop and he wanted to follow in his footsteps. Besides, no one in his family was into acting until he was discovered by Direk Brillante. He also became curious about acting when he saw Coco Martin.

Vince is not aware if his acting skills have improved since he did "Captive." He names Coco Martin as his idol.

“I think he’s everybody’s idol. He has his own mark. I want to make my own name and my own style,” said the lead actor of "Siklo", the new film of Direk Roman Perez, Jr. that is streaming on Vivamax this January 7.

He describes himself as a simple person who wants to help his family lead a decent life. When asked about his best trait, he said it is his love for his family although he doesn’t show it that much.

His worst trait? It is his being too generous with his friends sometimes. When choosing his friends, he wants those who are loyal and real.

When choosing film roles, Vince says he wants those that are reality-based. “It is hard to give life to a role you know doesn’t exist in real life.”

He has no qualms going nude if the role calls for it. He has done several scenes that required him to do frontal nudity or act naked onscreen. As long as it is necessary and is done with taste, Vince won’t say no to nudity. He admits turning down a role that asked him to do frontal nudity, believing the scene was not essential.

He has done a BL movie with Direk Joel Lamangan and Direk Adolf Alix. But his most daring BL film was the one he did for Direk Brillante where he and Paolo Gumabao stripped naked, with no plaster covering their privates.

Vince wants to be make a mark as a solo star who is good in portraying character roles. He is not partial to doing boy-next-door roles or films that require nudity for no reason at all.

“I am comfortable of my image as a sexy actor since most of the roles offered to me are sexy. I also would like to do action movies. I enjoy doing action roles. But I don’t have limitations because I am willing to do anything the role requires because that is part of the job.”

Vince loves his role in "Siklo" where he plays a delivery rider who falls into a forbidden love affair with one of his customers, Samara (Christine Bermas) who is the mistress of a religious group leader.

“The role is special to me because I love motorcycles. I didn’t want to use a double in my stunts pero naisip ko paano kung maaksidente ako. But when I was doing the stunts, I didn’t think how risky it was.”

“Siklo” will stream on Vivamax this Friday, January 7.
