Davao Aguilas, YFL forge partnership
MANILA, Philippines – Youth club-based football in the country got as big boost as the Davao Aguilas FC, through its chairman Jeff Cheng, has partnered with the Youth Football League Association for the YFL's new season beginning April 8 at Alabang Country Club.
The partners expressed confidence the second YFL's league competition, which will feature over 2,200 participants, will help them improve the quality of their game while giving them aspirations to play professional one day.
"The Davao Aguilas and YFL both see the youth football club system as the foundation of any football nation and as a catalyst to the popularity of the professional league," the YFL said in a statement.
The partnership was sealed in a contract signing by YFL President Miguel Atayde, YFL Chairman Christopher Hagedorn, Davao Aguilas Chairman Jefferson Cheng and Davao Aguilas President Francis Go.
"Youth football clubs are now more organized with a bright future ahead. Davao Aguilas, through their Chairman Mr. Jefferson Cheng, have always seen the importance of the youth club-based football," said Atayde, who lauded Cheng for supporting youth football for several years now.
