CEBU, Philippines - Around 160 netters will test each other’s mettle in the first leg of the 11th edition of the Cebuana Lhuillier Age-group Tennis Circuit which will kick off today at the CitiGreen Tennis Resorts in Barangay Punta Princesa, this city.

This is the biggest edition in the history of this event with two of the total legs taking place in Cebu. "Now, we have 57 legs after expanding to Panay Island and far North of Luzon and one leg in Puerto Princesa," said event organizer Mario Craiz in yesterday's press conference at CitiGreen Tennis Resort.

There are seven players from Manila led by Nio Tria, while 30 Mindanao netters are coming including Jose Maria Pague.  Leading the cast for the Cebu bets is Elizabeth Abarquez.

Organizers of the event challenge the participants to perform well in this four-day event especially with a national championship proposed at the end of the year.

Aside from the singles from the unisex 10, boys’ and girls’ 18-under, there will also be doubles categories in this Group-2 PHILTA-sanctioned event. (FREEMAN NEWS)
