Aklan PNP, Muslim communityforge unity to promote peace
BORACAY ISLAND, AKLAN, Philippines — A forum that aims to foster better relations between the police and the Muslim community in this province, as well as to promote peace and cooperation was held in this resort island on Wednesday.
The forum, dubbed as the Peace Building and Salaam Engagement Forum, was held at the Manocmanoc Covered Court here, according to a PNA-6 report.
With the theme “Shared and Individual Responsibility in Building Lasting Peace,” the forum also aims to encourage the Muslim populace to directly participate in the maintenance of peace and order in the community.
The forum was attended by the Police Community Relations officers from the 18 police units in the province, personnel of the Aklan Police Provincial Office PCR headed by its chief, Superintendent Rogen Morales, members of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center and members of PNP Class Mandirigma of 2016, led by Inspector Jose Mark Anthony Gesulga,
Members of the volunteers group KABALIKAT Civicom-Boracay, Boracay Salaam Police Volunteers as well as the Boracay Muslim Community Association also attended the forum.
Among the topics discussed in the activity are the mandate of Salaam Police Center and peace building activities, peace and order situation updates of Boracay Island and the misinterpretation of the meaning of some verses in the Qur’an.
The same activity was also conducted in the other provinces in the region. (FREEMAN)
