May 23 Deadline for Japanese government scholarship applications

You must have read about millions of tourists visiting Japan, especially during Springtime, the season of the famous Sakura (cherry blossoms).

Would you also be interested to visit Japan and view, not only the Sakura in spring but other flowers/sites in summer, the colorful leaves of autumn, the snow during winter?

One, undergraduate scholarships offer applicants the opportunity to spend up to five or seven years (for those majoring in Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine or in a six-year course in Pharmacy) at a Japanese college/university as an undergraduate degree student in one of two fields of study: Natural Science or Social Science.

Two, Specialized Training Scholarship offers applicants the opportunity to spend up to three years at a Japanese professional training school. Some fields of study under this category include: Technology, Personal Care and Nutrition, Education and Welfare, Business, Fashion and Home Economics, and, Culture and General Education.

Third, College of Technology Scholarship offers applicants the opportunity to spend up to four years at a Japanese college of technology. (https://www.ph.emb-apan.go.jp/itpr_en/00_000199.html )

If you are interested in the following major fields of study, you may wish to apply for this: scholarship: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information, Communication and Network Engineering, Materials Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering, International Communication, and, Management Information Engineering.

There are requirements to qualify for the scholarships.

For example, some required qualifications for undergraduate scholarship applicants include: 1.) Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 2001, and, 2.) Applicants must have graduated from high school by March of 2026.

Finally, Research Student Scholarship offers applicants the opportunity to spend at least 18 to 24 months conducting independent research under a Japanese professor. Any field of study is eligible for the scholarship, but applicants must find a Japanese professor willing to supervise their research.

Some requirements for this research scholarship include: applicants must have been born on/or after April 2, 1991, applicants must be university/or college graduates, applicants must intend to continue a course of study previously begun, i.e. shall not begin study in a field new to the applicant.

All application documents must be sent directly to the Japan Information and Culture Center, Embassy of Japan in the Philippines.

Visayan applicants who passed the first screening may take the paper examination and interview in Cebu.

Again, remember: May 23, 2025 (Friday) is the deadline for submission of application documents! Don't miss this opportunity to study in Japan!
