Exactly a week from today, next Saturday, April 22, we will celebrate Earth Day 2023!

So all of us can best prepare to celebrate and do our share for our earth, especially for this year’s Earth Day, allow us to echo the following valuable information, first from EarthDay.Org, and secondly, from the Global Youth Coalition (http://theglobalyouth.co/

According to EarthDay.Org, this year’s Earth Day 2023 theme, #InvestInOurPlanet, is focused on engaging the more than 1 billion people, governments, institutions, and businesses who participate in Earth Day to recognize our collective responsibility and to help accelerate the transition to an equitable, prosperous green economy for all.

We are focused on reframing the conversation, accelerating action, and bringing everyone together to understand that this is within our reach if we work together.

Whether you are taking actions virtually or in person you can join the largest environmental movement on Earth!

Don’t underestimate your power.

When your voice and actions are united with millions of others around the world, we can create an inclusive and impactful movement that is impossible to ignore.

Everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable.

Next, from Ms. Luchie Almagro Blanco, our active eco-advocate, this information and invitation from the Global Youth Coalition about this free online training for interested young leaders (35 years old and below) with application open until April 30.

Please feel free to disseminate and share with others in your networks too.

From Ms. Yoko Lu of Global Youth Coalition:

“We have developed a collaborative project between the University of Oxford and the Global Youth Coalition, a worldwide organization supporting youth-led climate action. Our goal is to empower young people with the necessary tools to actively participate in the UNFCCC system (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).

“We have created a comprehensive, free 13-week online course, taught by global experts, covering key negotiation topics on the road to COP28. The course content is based on valuable insights from long-time UNFCCC participants and feedback from an initial cohort of 180 youth activists. Our team of trainers includes experts from Oxford and beyond, with a majority hailing from the Global South.

“A secondary goal is to build common policy positions across the youth movement to make joined up demands at COP28 and beyond.

“And last but not least, the third goal is to promote youth-led initiatives that could be replicated at a local level, and impactful organizations that could share their learning experience and best practices.

“We would be honored if you could help us promote registration for this course!

Key details about this training: on eligibility: open to youth under 35. Re application deadline: Open until 30th April, 11:59 UTC. The online training is free; participants only need a free Zoom account. Live interpretation/translation across languages will be provided by non-profit organizations.

“In synthesis, we kindly request your support in the following: Retweet our registration link post here https://forms.gle/CUXuFu85kfypLp6z6.

“Share the course with friends, colleagues, and young people in your network.

“Help us gather and promote successful youth-led initiatives and projects, particularly open-source solutions that can be replicated (especially for adaptation and resilience).

“Connect us with young people that could promote the GCA and other Adaptation initiatives.

“The course's knowledge outcomes, participant submissions, and successful youth-led projects will be compiled and featured in a guidebook that will be released in chapters.

“Thank you for considering our request. Your support will greatly contribute to empowering young people in the fight against climate change.”
