Reasonable tempo

ESSENCE - Ligaya Rabago-Visaya - The Freeman

Many public and private schools have already begun limited face-to-face classes, while others are in the last stages of planning. The workforce, on the other hand, has gradually regained momentum as they return to their offices or workplaces. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, and tourist spots have begun to open their doors in the tourism industry despite the fact that the omicron variant is on the rise in some countries.

Apart from the conventional and popular places that have carved a niche in the hearts of our traveling brothers and sisters, other less-popular but exhilarating destinations are also being researched and advertised. Yes, these are destinations that are likely to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for individuals seeking a new level of luxury and adventure.

People who have been affected by the pandemic require a sense of normalcy while also considering the recovery of their health. A home away from home is an important aspect. A sense of being at one with nature, whether in mountains or nearby resorts. And a fantastic area to experience this combo is usually hours away from the city, where we may breathe in the early wind while driving to our destination. However, given that nighttime rallies by local or national politicians are expected, some annoyance is to be expected. This is a scene that the locals enjoy seeing because entertainment is an important aspect of the overall experience to entice the audience to watch and thus stay. Local musicians and entertainers are also expected to play as intermission or audience fillers at the start or before the formal gathering. As a result, one must decide whether to be a part of the rally out of need or to truly be away from the scene and devote one's complete attention to oneself or one's family.

Choosing to be at the political rallies, expect old conflicts pitting neighbors against each other to resurface. And if there are any new issues, especially those that are more personal and domestic in nature, they will be publicized even to those who are uninterested. This is also the time to decide whom to believe and who has the most intriguing tale bundle. This local scene is merely a microcosm of what is going on nationally. We have local officials who follow in the footsteps of their national counterparts in terms of procedures and agendas.

So, even if we already have summer fever and want to go somewhere to enjoy the best hospitality, this year is different since we have to deal with challenges and concerns that touch us directly or indirectly. But we don't care because it happens every year. We simply have to accept that in the months running up to the election, we will go through the most difficult and divided period of our lives as a nation.

We must put up with the inconvenience and focus on the brighter side of things, where we might potentially look forward to a brighter future. The path to recovery will not always be simple, but we will take it one day at a time, focusing on the moments we have long desired. This year may be the beginning of something better, with healing progressing at a reasonable tempo.
