Stay proactively vigilant vs COVID, please

Confident that their countries have successfully managed the Covid virus/variants, Europe and the US relaxed their Covid measures, opened their borders, allowed for more domestic and international mobility/movement.

After having been long confined at home and within their countries, one can imagine the collective relief and freedom to be allowed to move to wider, farther spaces, to shop, to dine, to tour, to travel, and more!

And because the previous covid case surges appeared to have been stemmed, all indicators of covid presence and danger gratefully managed, or so they confidently thought, Europe and the US proceeded to their post-pandemic stage and their new-found freedom and mobility!

Only a few months after, though, slowly and painfully, one after another, Europe and the US are experiencing a sudden surge in the number of Covid cases!

Suddenly, unexpectedly, once again, thousands are Covid-positive!

Lockdowns are now seriously being considered, with Austria the first to reimpose national lockdown. And the angry Austrians are out in the streets, protesting this recent lockdown!  Germany is also experiencing a resurgence of Covid cases.

Belatedly and causing much alarm, today, this very minute, the whole world is now witnessing that while the virus/variants may appear to have been completely managed, the stark reality remains: the virus/variants never completely disappeared!

The world is distressingly realizing that not only are there one, two but more waves in covid infection, that despite significant declines, resurgence of active cases can happen suddenly, anytime, anywhere!

All of us have to realize and be vigilantly aware that covid is still much alive and active, especially when, among other factors, health protocols are disregarded by the populace, when vaccination is not complete, when authorities also become lax in the implementation of health protocols and contact tracing, when everyone acts as if the Covid is no longer around!

To reiterate, COVID is still here, still as dangerous as ever, still as deadly as before!

All need to remember this each day, each moment.

And all should ALWAYS continue to stay pro-actively vigilant vs the Covid virus/variants!

Let us always remain prayerful, mindful and compliant to do our responsibility to sustainably, consistently follow health protocols, without fail!

Let us all continue to wear face masks, maintain social distancing, wash hands or bathe upon returning home, and stay home if possible.

Even if alert levels have been relaxed, more spaces open to the public now, more movement allowed, let us remember always to stay safe so others can be safe as well!

There is a happy holiday atmosphere all throughout our country that is palpable now, encouraged by lower Covid positivity rates, less covid cases, less clogging of hospitals especially ICUs and further bolstered by forecasts of further decrease in covid cases, now that vaccination is more widespread and herd immunity present in many areas of our country.

HOWEVER, please, please never let your guard down. Let us all remember that COVID is still here, eager to continue to spread and infect not just one but thousands and more!

Please, please do your responsible and disciplined share NOT to get the virus or to spread it to others.

Wear face masks CORRECTLY and CONSISTENTLY! Avoid crowding, always maintain safe social distancing. Remember to comply with health protocols always.
