President Sergio Osmeña’s appointees in Samar - Part 2

Don Sergio Suico Osmeña Sr., the only Cebuano who became president, became the liberator president and rebuilt the country by appointing officials to govern the local government units. He made the Provincial Capitol of Leyte in Tacloban City as the national capitol and held office thereat. The Leyte-Samar Provinces used to compose what was known as the 9th Senatorial District. Here were his appointees in the Province of Samar (now divided into Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, and Western Samar):

Pedro Franzuela, Gaudioso Candelario, Ignacio Custorio, Pascualita Cales, Pelayo L. de Leon, and Bernabe Figueroa, appointed acting councilors of Catarman, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Angel Manaug, appointed acting mayor, and Victorio Muñoz, acting vice mayor of Capul, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Esteban Abayon, Calixto Odtujan, Pablo Silanga, and Hilarion Tan, appointed acting councilors of Capul, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Felipe Figueroa, appointed acting mayor, and Jacinto Bacsal, acting vice mayor of Calbiga, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Honorio Abellar, Serafin Algide, Aniceto Tabenas, and Agapito Abinguna, appointed acting councilors of Calbiga, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Andres R. Rosales, appointed acting mayor, and Donato R. Tubal, acting vice mayor of Calbayog, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Primitivo Carcaga, Cinicio Mancol, Cesareo Ortiz, Pablo Tupa, and Pedro Tosales, appointed acting councilors of Calbayog, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Isidoro M. Ferreras, appointed acting mayor, and Mercedes M. Tabunda, acting vice mayor of Basey, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Florencio Fernadez, Vidal Cabigon, Fruto Colinares, Agapito Delovino, Melecio Badajos, and Jose F. Rojas, appointed acting councilors of Basey, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Ildefonso Tomamao, appointed acting mayor, and Hermenegildo Sanchez, acting vice mayor of Almagro, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Marcial Salibago, Frecencio Merino, Isaac Peñalosa, and Esteban Corot, appointed acting councilors of Almagro, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Jose P. Gonzaga, appointed acting mayor, and Roman Trinidad, acting vice mayor of Santo Niño, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Honorio Suela, Valentin Platitas and Espiridion Orquia, appointed acting councilors of Santo Niño, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Margarito L. Caberio, appointed acting mayor, and Onofre Cajife, acting vice mayor of Santa Rita, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Bonifacio Paranas, Simplico Fontanes, Ciriaco Alcaraz, and Cirilo Homeras, appointed acting councilors of Santa Rita, Samar, October 5, 1945.

Ramon P. Calagas, appointed Acting Mayor, and Alfonso Milca, acting vice mayor of Santa Margarita, Samar, October 5, 1945. (To be continued)
