Closure and forgiveness

VERBAL VARIETY - Annie Fe Perez - The Freeman

Moira’s music video of her hit song “Paubaya” made her fans cry on what was supposedly a happy day for those in love, Valentine’s Day. You see, two showbiz actors who used to be real-life couples become on-screen partners once again to portray the song’s message --forgiveness and letting go. It was a very touching moment when they both made their statements of professing their mistakes and asking to be accepted again. It was in that monumental scene when the man let go of her hand, signaling their moment to be both healed from one another.

For Gen Z and millennials, confrontations are one of the most difficult scenarios to deal with. It brings up so much stress and anxiety when the turn of events lead up to that moment. I think that is why the term “ghosted” came to life, because majority are being stood upon when the feelings fade away. I am no psychologist but I’d like to assume that I can understand how the dynamics of their emotions work. It’s proper to discuss and highlight these as we are still in the love month. Why so? Because the way these teenagers and young professionals deal with their feelings help us understand how our country will be run in the next years.

Soon enough they will grow and take over the many administrative positions. We’d also like to see a drop in the suicide cases today. I’ve had my share of problems too and if only I was granted, I’d also like some closures in my life. I envy the couple in the music video because closures could put a throbbing soul to peace but I guess it doesn’t just work that way. We don’t get all the luck in the world. I guess the key to moving on is forgiving and loving yourself first.

I find it funny how some children are channeling their energies to love and whatnot at such an early age when there is so much yet to discover. I, too, have dreams for myself when I was a bit younger. All of them may not have been fulfilled but some of those included in my bucket list were ticked off. It could be worth it to live a little, not according to how society dictates.

As the love month nears its close, we ought to know the real meaning of love as the days go by - through ourselves and forgiveness. While Moira may enjoy the fame of her music video, the underlying message goes through and through. It is okay to let go of grudges, pain, and kept feelings. Believe me, it is the best satisfaction in the world to feel freedom in yourself.
