Worst president in US history?

READER'S VIEWS - The Freeman

I am an American citizen.

Big talkers who brag about themselves loudly, and use appealing catch phrases (such as Make America Great Again) may get lots of attention, but that doesn't mean they are going to make qualified leaders.

Recently, President Trump released a video recently saying it “may be the most important speech I’ve ever made.” What followed were the same unsupported election fraud claims already rejected by every court. Facebook and Twitter have placed credibility warnings on his 46-minute "sore loser" infomercial. News stations won't air it.

A president who cared about the people of America should have done a video about combating the worst COVID outbreak in the world, and lay out our plan to recover economically. (The U.S. recently recorded its greatest daily virus death toll, about two deaths a minute, passing heart disease and cancer.)

Instead he's only thinking about himself. As an acting president he is immune to federal indictments. He can expect several state and federal cases against him and his associates beginning January 20th, his last day in office.

Mr. Trump’s presidency already has damaged the United States at home and around the world. He has abused the power of his office, breaking the values of acceptance and tolerance which have bound the nation together for generations. He uses his position for the profitability of his business and political interests. He has shown disregard for the lives of Americans. He is a man unworthy of the office of president.

American citizens are from every country in the world and from every religion.

Our leaders have traditionally spoken for unity, yet agreeing we can have freedom of speech and different political ideas. Actually, the setup with 50 states, each having some freedom of making laws the way they want, means that alternative ideas can be tested and maybe copied by other states.  We need leaders who accept all religions and all people of every color. America is strong due to its diversity. Motivated immigrants have come from all over the world and achieved  tremendous things that have helped the entire planet.

And we agree we can have different ideas and that we decide by voting.

His people dividing, mean attacks on fellow citizens are un-American. Rather than spend the rest of his term doing constructive things for the country he simply wants to fight his loss and look for any excuse that the seven million vote win for president-elect Biden could be overturned. His selfish efforts poison democracy by swaying gullible, mostly uneducated, Americans to believe our elections are corrupted.

Sadly, our current president only serves as a bad example, as a warning, to the world's democracies. However, the integrity of the U.S. institutions held. Key people in every government agency stood for integrity, including several Republican leaders. Some were fired by Trump, but fired as heroes of America.
