Five factors that made Joe Biden win

WHAT MATTERS MOST - Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez - The Freeman

The 46th president of the great nation of the USA, Joseph R Biden Jr,  is a decent man, middle class, Catholic, a devoted family man and a very humble, honest and likeable chap, who loves his country, and has never been involved in any case of corruption. More than 74 million American voters put him in office and fired the incumbent with a very strong mandate for change.

Candidates do not only win because they are nice people though. There are simply so many factors to consider. In the case of Joe Biden, there are five factors: the pandemic and its mishandling, the threat to repeal the affordable medical care act, the anti-black, anti-immigrant stance of the incumbent, his chaotic foreign relations policies, and the contrasting personalities and policies of the incumbent and the challenger. The Democrats have chosen its candidate wisely, and they have campaigned hard enough to oust the current president whom they accuse of dividing the nation, of inflicting damage to political institutions, and of sowing hatred and indecency.

The first factor is the pandemic crisis and what the Democrats portray as the incumbent president's ostentatious nonchalance and apparent lack of seriousness, in addressing the COVID pandemic. He stubbornly refused to wear a mask, and conducted his political rallies without social distancing and even mocking the scientific protocols formulated by his own medical czar Dr Fausi. And when this highly professional medical expert on infectious diseases would answer questions thrown by the press, the incumbent peremptorily issued a threat to fire Dr Fausi after the elections. Joe Biden promised to appoint Dr Fausi again for his competence and conscientiousness.

The second factor concerns medical care. The outgoing president has told his senate allies in the GOP to work for the repeal of Obamacare, the affordable medical service act. The victory of Joe Biden is a strong rebuff from the Americans, in effect, saying eloquently that the American people do not want that law repealed. The third factor is the current administration's indubitably racist and anti-black policies, insisting on the supremacy of the white race. That kind of stance has galvanized the minorities. The other colored people, like the Asians and the Latinos have joined the African-American in rejecting the incumbent's anti-immigrant policies. The incumbent president was rejected because he opted to forget that America is a nation of immigrants.

The fourth factor is chaotic foreign policies, imprecise stance relative to China, Russia and North Korea, and its anti-Muslim, anti-Arab actions and decisions. In its efforts to impress the Jews, the US foreign relations people have transferred the capital of Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a highly provocative act, a grave insult and display of arrogance against the Palestinians and other Arab nations. Joe Biden is more mature and experienced in terms of foreign relations. He is balanced and fair; he listens to all sides and decides with reason and compassion. During his stint as vice president, President Obama benefited immensely from Biden's advice and actions in the Middle East and elsewhere.

The voice of Joe Biden is the greatest American idea whose time has come. His political alliance with Kamala Harris is the most eloquent message of unity in diversity. Biden represents unity. Kamala is the symbol of diversity. The USA will have a better presidency after those chaotic and abrasive last four years. Biden will indeed bring back the soul of America and decency in the White House. It is just right and proper.
