Happy Thanksgiving
I received some positive reactions from our readers over the topic we featured last week. One told me that it is very helpful for him and his friends so that they are better informed and prepared. This is one of the objectives of this weekly column - to help our readers, here and abroad, on the recent updates, news, and stories affecting the Filipino immigration journey.
One of the more interesting feedbacks I received lately is the experience of some immigrant visa applicants as they underwent the medical/physical examination. There were a few instances that they were not pleased with the experience while some had negative reactions to the drugs given but, despite their complaints, felt were not sufficiently attended to by the medical staff. If you have any experience like these, please do not hesitate to email me privately.

Last Thursday, America celebrated Thanksgiving Day, an annual national holiday as a way to gather with family and friends to give thanks for all the blessings received throughout the year. And it’s not just Americans who celebrate Thanksgiving. Immigrants too, understand the reason for the celebration. I have been to Thanksgiving dinners of immigrants before. Though they may not have the same dishes as with that traditional American meal, still the spirit of gratitude is there. Immigrants are just as thankful as American citizens as they appreciate all the opportunities the US has to offer. What is good about Thanksgiving is that it is apolitical, non-religious, and everyone is invited to celebrate.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, may we all have blessings to be thankful and even more reasons to give.
