Scoutmaster Sergio P. Damazo, Jr. bridge ordinance (Part 3)

WHEREAS, he was likewise recognized as Scoutmaster of the Year (National Level) in 1970 and Model Filipino Awardee for the Service of the Youth in 1986;

WHEREAS, he was awarded by then President Fidel V. Ramos as one of the Ten Most Outstanding Scoutmasters of the Philippines in 1994;

WHEREAS, the naming of the bridge to “SCOUTMASTER SERGIO P DAMAZO JR BRIDGE” will commemorate and honor the exceptional contributions of Scoutmaster Damazo to the academic and youth sectors in the City of Cebu;

NOW THEREFORE, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Cebu, in a regular session assembled, hereby ordains that;

SECTION 1. NAMING.- The bridge connecting Barangay Mambaling and the South Road Properties (SRP) along Francisco S. Vestil shall henceforth be officially named and known as “SCOUTMASTER SERGIO P. DAMAZO BRIDGE.”

The ordinance was prepared by Roy Vincent I. Alix, OIC-Acting Secretary to the Sangguniang Panlungsod. It was attested by Edgardo C. Labella, Presiding Office of the City Council who first filed the bridge naming ordinance in 2012.

The members of the City Council who were present during the June 25, 2019 session who approved the ordinance were: Vice Mayor Edgardo C. Labella, Presiding Officer, Councilor Margarito V. Osmeña, Majority Floor Leader, Councilor Sisinio M. Andales, 1st Assistant Majority Floor Leader, Councilor Eugenio F. Gabuya Jr., 2nd Assistant Majority Floor Leader, Councilor Jocelyn G. Pesquera, Minority Floor Leader, Councilor Raymond Alvin N. Garcia, Assistant Minority Floor Leader, Councilor Pastor M. Alcover Jr., Councilor Alvin B. Arcilla, Councilor James Anthony R. Cuenco, Councilor Jose C. Daluz III, Councilor Mary Ann C. de los Santos, Councilor Joel G. Garganera, Councilor Franklyn O. Ong, Councilor Renato Z. Osmeña Jr., Councilor Eduardo R. Rama Jr., Councilor Jessica P. Resch and Councilor Joy Augustus G. Young.

The unveiling of the bridge marker is scheduled on August 28, 2019, which coincides with the Feast of St. Augustine, a holiday of the Josenian Community.
