In our eyes

When we age, our system degenerates, including our sight. Our eyes gradually fail us. We cannot anymore clearly see the texts. We cannot fully appreciate the beauty of diversity: variety of textures, colors and levels. And all we wish for is to bring back the time when we fully see the reality as is.

My recent eye operation has brought me to the realization of taking good care of our senses the time when we had them in full use. That life indeed is copiously appreciated when the God-given senses are all intact and fully functional.

It is fascinating when one would say that the beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.

And when one would ask, what does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. And lastly, it has eyes to see misery and want. Sadly, if and when we continue to be blinded of the excesses and sufferings of others then we are not using our eyes to a great extent.

Many Filipinos still live below the poverty line. What's more, the reason isn't top-mystery. The ruling class that controls politics in this country separates from the general population every one of the benefits of economic extension and anything that remains for the poor is likewise divided among powerful political clans, driven by their cunning descendants who sustain the abuse of the majority.

Consistently, numerous individuals seek after their personal circumstance to the detriment of others and that personal circumstance turns into a moral evil when egotistical lawmakers cause our people to endure in yearning and neediness.

Injustice is structural and not simply a question of decision by certain cabals in Congress. We can't take out oppression by disposing of rulers or by making new laws in light of the fact that deliberate oppressions are essentially being recreated in major social, economic and political organizations. All dark forces, which imperil the majority of the general population, must be uncovered.

The economic imbalance has turned out to be increasingly articulated in the previous decade that has brought about topographical disparity in the Philippines. In Mindanao, six of the 10 locales are among the main 10 broadly as far as poverty rates, with somewhere in the range of 25 and 40 percent of families living in abject neediness. There are those who have sacrificed their personal satisfaction over happiness of others. Our volunteers and other well-intentioned individuals who see beyond the physical aspect see the innermost of one’s being, providing the warmth, love and affection.

The world is full of beauty, charm and adventure. And the adventures that we can have are endless if only we seek them with our eyes open.
