How did Gwen Garcia defeat Agnes Magpale in all seven districts?

WHAT MATTERS MOST - Atty. Josephus B Jimenez - The Freeman

The dragon lady from Dumanjug and Barili, Gwendolyn Garcia, is now the most powerful Cebu politician. She can be Cebu's strongest bet for senator in 2022. Her performance in the last polls showed she is the best strategist, the most effective campaigner, and the most difficult political opponent to conquer.

It was amazing for her, a candidate from the south, to win overwhelmingly in the north, defeating her opponent, Agnes Magpale, in the latter's own bailiwick and all over the province. Gwen carried all the districts, leaving Magpale defeated in more than 95% of all component cities and municipalities. This could only have been driven by the president's strong endorsement of Gwen, as well as her more organized, scientific, strategic campaign methods, and her superior logistics, funding, and organization. Above, all Gwen is more passionate, driven, and aggressive.

I predicted a very close fight but was proven wrong. I stand corrected and apologize for my errors. The results showed that in the First District, with the help of congressman-elect Eddie Gullas and mayor-elect Samsam Gullas, Gwen won in all cities (Carcar, Naga, and Talisay) and towns (Sibonga, San Fernando, and Minglanilla) getting a total of 196,103 votes or 64.34% over Magpale's 108,700 or 35.66%.

In the Second District, despite the gargantuan efforts of Governor Davide and Congressman Willy Caminero, Gwen won in five towns (Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, and Oslob) and lost only in Samboan controlled by the Calderons and in Santander controlled by the Wenceslaos. Gwen got 57.68% or 66,971 votes over Magpale's 43.31% or only 49,122.

In the Third District, which is controlled by the Garcias, Gwen got 166,145 votes or 62.15% over Magpale's 101,151 or 37.85%. Gwen won in Toledo City (42,999) over Magpale (29,496) and in all towns; Barili, Alogunisan, Pinamungajan, Balamban, Asturias, and Tuburan. Well, I predicted that. In the fourth, which is controlled by the Salimbangons, Gwen won in all towns but lost in Bogo with 14,063 to Magpale's 22,519. But in the whole district, Gwen got 134,086 or 60.98% over Magpale's 85,798 or 39.02%. The leadership of Junie Martinez was only helpful to Magpale in Bogo. Martinez has no more influence in the rest of the district.

The greatest pain of Magpale was in the Fifth District, her own turf, where Gwen defeated her in all nine towns of Borbon, Carmen, Catmon, Compostela, Liloan (overwhelmingly), Pilar, Poro, San Francisco, and Tudela. Magpale won only in Danao but only slightly (Agnes got 32,118 and Gwen with 27,918 in Danao), and in Sogod where Agnes won by less than 2,000 votes. In the Sixth District, Gwen won in Mandaue as well as in Consolacion and Cordova, getting a total of 121,700 or 54.54% over Magpale's 101,458 or 45.46%. In my home district, the seventh, where the incumbent congressman (re-elected resoundingly) is Magpale's nephew, Peter Calderon, Gwen won in all eight towns except in her hometown, Dumanjug. She got 62,930 votes (56.42%) over Magpale's 48,614 (43.58 %).

The greatest pain of Gwen is that in the town where Noy Pabling, her father, was born, she lost by 14 votes to Magpale. The Dumanjuganons gave her 13,707 votes while Agnes got 13,721. This was due to the strong efforts of Mayor Gungun Gica, Magpale's bet in the town. Well, you can’t win them all. What matters most is that Gwen is the big winner in the last polls. No one can duplicate the feat she achieved, not even her own dad and brothers. Gwen, indeed, is a dragon lady.
