Cenomar required to buy condo unit

THE EAR - The Freeman

SINGLE OR… An OFW who wanted to buy a condominium unit was surprised when the seller required him to submit a cenomar (Certificate of No Marriage), which is only usually required of someone applying for a marriage license.

However, the company said it was just to confirm who was single and who wasn’t among their buyers. In the past they had had clients who claimed they were single, but disputes arose when the condo unit had to be disposed and many people came forward claiming to be the owner’s spouse, kids, or even mistress.
