Duterte ouster or assassination?

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit Avila - The Freeman

Most folks say that death often comes in threes, meaning when one friend passes away, two other friends follow his death. Apparently this was true last week when my good friend, Enrique “Eking” Abellana passed away (he was buried last Sunday) and last Saturday my uncle, Engr. Salvador “Tio Boy” Segura, the younger brother of my mother Ascension, passed into eternal life and will be buried in Cempark tomorrow morning.

What was totally unexpected was a report from my friend, Christopher Go (he was in the US when he reported this news) that our good friend Jojoff Escobal passed away in Manila. Jojoff was one of my first talk show hosts in MyTV hosting the Wealth Channel for nearly two years until he accepted a new job in Manila where he had to transfer his entire family. I rarely met with him because of his tight schedule in Manila.

I first met Jojoff when he was communications head of the Aboitiz Corp. and two years later he quit that job and did work doing family constitution which we asked him to do for us. When I joined MyTV, I asked him to host the Wealth Channel and he did it very well. But he had to move to Manila where he worked with the Ortigas family.

While we were in Tio Boy’s wake, I learned that he passed away. Since he was not in Facebook I had to call his wife Misty who confirmed to me that Jojoff  had died. His remains lie in the St. Alphonsus Mary de Liguori Church in Magallanes Village. Jojoff was also instrumental in making me a cooperator in Opus Dei. It really is a sad time for me. May we request our pious reader to please pray for the repose of his soul.

A national daily headline read: “No Ouster Move, says Trillanes, ‘Plotters’. First of all, this news comes from the self-incarcerated Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and therefore is unbelievable. Frankly speaking, I really don’t know why the daily gives importance to what Senator Trillanes tells their reporters because in the end, it is really a denial coming from one person who cannot force an ouster move against the Duterte administration. However it doesn’t mean there is no such ouster move but it certainly is coming from a different source.

If at all, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana confirmed that there is an ouster move, but it is coming from the Communists or the New People’s Army. The alleged involvement of the “yellows” or pro-Aquino groups and the camp of the opposition or from Senator Trillanes has not been verified, according to Secretary Lorenzana. If you recall, come September 21st, it will already be 46 years ago when then president Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law all over the Philippines. But remember Marcos blamed it on the CPP-NPA. Whether that is true it is very possible, however, that Marcos realized that the Filipinos loved the stability of martial law, which is why it was only lifted in 1981.

If you ask me, the CPP-NPA cannot mount an ouster move without the support of the Filipino people. But how can the Communists expect the support of the Filipino people when Filipinos love our kind of democracy, faulty as it is. Meanwhile the Communists do not have any elections, which is why Jose Maria Sison is still chairman of the CPP. His enemies, the late president Marcos are long gone, so is his friend, the late senator Ninoy Aquino. We’ve had several elections already putting two Aquinos as president, but the CPP still has Sison as chairman.

If there is an ouster move done by the CPP, it has to be an assassination attempt against President Duterte because the commies can stage something like this. But to remove a sitting government is something beyond their realm. Supposed to be that yesterday, President Duterte will address the nation and since we have our deadlines, I don’t think I can wait for what the president has to say. Lastly, the yellows have told the media that President Duterte is a dictator, then ask yourself why is this “dictator” and his military waiting for our courts to decide on the case of Senator Trillanes?
