Councilman arrested for gun possession
CEBU, Philippines - A barangay councilman in Samboan town was arrested after he was accused of shooting his relative last Friday.
Councilman Primitivo Aniñon, 59, of Barangay Jumangpas was caught in possession of caliber .38 revolver outside his residence in Sitio Jumanip. The suspect was accused of shooting his relative, Nicasio Aniñon, 55, before his arrest.
Nicasio, who was able to escape from the attack unhurt, said he was harvesting coconut fruits from the farm of his father when the suspect came and shot him without any provocation. Nicasio said the suspect missed the shot prompting him to run and took shelter at his father's house.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspect are involved in a land dispute. (FREEMAN)
