Maiden Visayas G Hoops gets underway today

CEBU, Philippines — The inaugural Visayas G Hoops powered by VISTECH will kick off today (Friday, June 20) at the Sacred Heart School-Jesuit old campus along General Maxilom Avenue in
Cebu City.
Games start at 9 a.m but a simple opening opening ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. to be graced by Cebu City Mayor-elect Engr. Nestor Archival, Vice Mayor-elect Tomas Osmeña, and coach Rocky Alcoseba, who spearheads the three-day grassroots tournament together with the Australia-based league organizer Van Halen Parmis and Rey Cañete.
In all, 24 teams - 12 each in the boys 13 and 15 Under age groups - will be seeing action in the developmental league that aims to provide young athletes a platform to showcase their skills.
The title contenders in 13 Under division are the RJN of Talisay City, Corajudo’s of Cebu City, Coach Enoc Academy of Maasin City, and Lakawan Squad of Tacloban in Pool A, Go Hard Basketball-Coach Doms of Cebu City, Dream Big of Ormoc City, Aloysian Eagles of Minglanilla, and Batang Mandirigma of Lapu-Lapu City in Pool B, and CKBA of Consolacion, CIT Wildcats of Cebu City, JR Hooperz of Minglanilla, and DSB Seafoods in Pool C.
Slugging it out for the crown in the 15 Under category are the Benedicto Baby Cheetahs of Mandaue City, Corajudo’s, AVC Law, and Bigasan Hub x CKBA of Consolacion in Pool A, Go Hard-Coach Doms and The Realtors of Cebu City, Loboc Vengers of Bohol and WLC Mustangs of Ormoc in Pool B, and the Abellana Chiefs of Cebu City, Cabañero Basketball Academy of Mahaplag, Leyte, PYFBA Youth of Talisay City and Korean Mamba Squad of Ormoc.
Parmis said they will have a separate contest for lady cagers next month.
