SHS-Ateneo hosts Cor Jesu volleyball tourney

CEBU, Philippines — The Cor Jesu Invitational Volleyball Tournament kicked off on Friday, June 13, at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

A total of 25 teams spread in three age groups are seeing action in the three-day tilt that is part of SHS-Ateneo’s 70th anniversary celebration.

“We’re hoping that this is a good stage for our varsity teams to show what they got,” said SHS-Ateneo Athletic Director Jon Inot.

Aside from the hosts, also fighting it out in the 12 Under category are the Balibolista, University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), Catmon, Subangdaku, and Zhake of Tuburan.

In the 15 Under, the Ateneo Hearters will be challenged by the Balibolista, DLGT of Dalaguete, CVC of Consolacion, Cuties of Mindanao, and TVC.

In the 18 Under, the Atenean spikers will have their hands full against Sto. Niño-Carcar, Catmon, Lady Greywolves, CVC, DOKE of Lapu-Lapu City, and CDO CC of Cagayan de Oro in the girls’ division and versus Catmon, Xavier-Manila, SCC BVT, LNHS of Leyte, and BISON in the boys’ side.

“These are the best of the best as we have teams from all parts of the province and as far as Manila, Cagayan, and Leyte. We’re really looking forward to the success of the pocket tournament,” said Ian Callet of Indie Sports/ CSAS, one of the event organizers.
