Danao Pistoleros, Catmon Mighty Bakers dominate Frasco Cup

In basketball, the Pistoleros dethroned the Liloan Tornadoes with a rousing 88-76 victory in the deciding match of their best-of-three title series to emerge as champions right in their first finals appearance.
Ian Olivar was named MVP after leading Danao with 17 points.
Olivar’s teammate John Bryan Zamora, who finished with 15 points, made it to the Mythical Five together with the two other Danao players in Carl Angelo Batiquin and Benedicto Taneo and Liloan’s Uri Avila and John Patrick Cardosa.
On the other hand, the Mighty Bakers also unseated Liloan, three sets to one, in their championship match to secure the women’s volleyball crown.
Catmon was bannered by UAAP stars Casiey Dongallo of the University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons and KC Cepeda of the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors.
Dongallo was honored as the MVP, while Cepada was hailed as the Best Spiker.
The rest of the individual awardees were Shainely Tequin (Best Server), Philomena Sinadjan (Best Libero), Gwyneth Duran (Best Setter), and Althea Bacalaños (Best Blocker). — (FREEMAN)
