UC-backed Samson Norombaba Law bags U21 crown in Jr. MPBL Cebu leg

CEBU, Philippines — The Samson Norombaba Law manned by the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters were crowned as champions in the 21 Under division of the Junior Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Season 3 Provincial Circuit:Cebu leg on Friday, May 23, at the Game Changer Sports Facility in Mandaue City.

UC-SN Law downed the City of Bogo, 53-45, in the sudden-death final match to claim the title and a ticket to the Jr. MPBL National Finals later this year.

Kristian Alejandrino topscored for UC-SN Law with 12 points to earn the Finals MVP award. He dropped eight points in the second period to help the Webmasters-backed squad establish a double-digit advantage, 36-24, at halftime.

Bogo pulled within five points after three quarters, 38-43, but UC-SN Law kept its poise and composure down the stretch to seal a rousing eight-point win.

Arnold Miñoza, who finished with eight points for SN Law, was named tournament MVP. He was joined in the Mythical Five by his teammates Mikyle Lejarde and John Herben Linares.

Their chief strategist Calib Gawangon had his fair share of the limelight after being honored as “Coach of the Season” in the U21 category.
