Central Visayas dethroned as PRISAA national champions
CEBU, Philippines — Central Visayas (Region 7) was dethroned as champions by SOCCSKSARGEN (Region 12) in the Senior division of the recently concluded Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games 2025 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan Province.
After the week-long sports conclave, Central Visayas fell to second place in the final standings with a total of 276 medals broken down into 115 golds, 62 silvers, and 99 bronzes.
The Region 7 delegates were unseated by SOCCSKSARGEN, comprised of South Cotabato, Saranggani, Sultan Kudarat, and General Santos City, which reigned supreme with 128 golds laced with 104 silvers and 55 bronzes.
CALABARZON (Region 4-A) finished third with a 74-56-55 gold-silver-bronze tally followed by the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR) and Western Visayas (Region 6) at fourth and fifth with a 46-42-41 and 39-84-84 medal haul, respectively.
Rounding up the Top 10 were Negros Island Region (20-27-56), Davao Region (17-16-17), Bicol Region (15-21-71), Ilocos Region (14-16-26), and Cagayan Valley (10-19-29).
In the Youth category, Central Visayas landed at fourth place with a 68-24-30 medal count behind champion Western Visayas (99-71-73), CALABARZON (94-55-51), and Bicol Region (80-97-85). — (FREEMAN)
