UP Cebu dominates SCUAA VII Regional Games
CEBU, Philippines — The University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu secured the overall crown of the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Central Visayas Regional Games 2025 hosted by Cebu Normal University (CNU) recently.
UP Cebu ended the six-day sports conclave with an overwhelming total of 186 medals broken down into 119 golds, 41 silvers, and 26 bronzes.
The Barangay Lahug-based Fighting Maroons fished out the chunk of their medal haul in swimming with 52 golds, nine silvers, and three bronzes.
Additionally, UP Cebu bagged eight gilts in badminton, six in athletics, five each in arnis and archery, and three in dancesport.
The member of Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) also emerged as champion in 5x5 and 3x3 basketball, table tennis women’s doubles, men’s football and baseball, and women’s softball, beach volleyball, and futsal.
Cebu Technological University (CTU) took the first runner-up honors with 81 gold, 77 silver, and 54 bronze medals, while Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) of Dumaguete City landed at third place with a 60-88-64 gold-silver-bronze tally.
CNU placed fourth with 37-50-42 medal count followed by Bohol Island State University (BISU) with 28-71-103, Siquijor State College (SSC) with 6-9-31, and Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PHILSCA) with 2-1-7. – EBV
