All set for symbolic San Carlos Run this Sunday

CEBU, Philippines —  The University of San Carlos Basic Education Department will spearhead a fun run to promote a positive culture of unification among parents, students, administration, and staff from USC North campus to USC South campus in line with the school’s herculean task to unify and embrace “One Basic Education”.

Slated at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, the ceremonial race starts at the USC North campus and will traverse along General Maxilom Avenue, B. Rodriguez and V. Rama Streets, and ends at USC South campus for approximately 3km distance.

“This is actually a prayer and ceremony that USC will have a great metamorphosis, a change in our campus,” said Fr. Rogelio Bag-ao, SVD, Provincial Superior of SVD-PH Southern Province during the formal launching of the event yesterday at the Norton Hall of USC-North campus.

Bag-ao was joined by USC-BED Director Fr. Alfonso Araceli, SVD, Fr. Orencio Rodriquez, SVD,USC-North Principal Rovelyn Mina, assistant principal Jeanette Fontanosa, athletics coach James Ludwig Geconcillo, San Carlos Run coordinators Neil Sasan and Galimar Largo, and rising Cebuano basketball star Reinhard Jumamoy who will be taking part in the run as a tribute to his beloved alma mater.

“It’s a symbolic run marking the formal transfer of the USC North campus to the USC South campus,” said Araceli. “The response was very positive because they are very enthusiastic about this activity.”

As for the run, there will categories for the family, students (grade school and junior high school), faculty and staff. Cash prizes and medals will be given away to the top finishers.

Registration fee is pegged at P450 inclusive of a souvenir shirt and snacks. — EBV
