Calubian NHS tops Biliran leg of OCCCI D-League

CEBU, Philippines —  The Calubian National High School (CNHS) edged past Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades (CNSAT), 53-46, in their knockout final match to dominate the Biliran leg of the,maiden OCCCI D-League Inter-School Basketball Tournament recently at the Biliran gymnasium in Leyte.

Mark Andre Morilla showed the way for CNHS with a sterling double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds he laced with two assists and as many steals to romp away with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

It was indeed a triple delight for Calubian NHS as Morilla’s teammates Alejandro Baring and Francis Jay-R Bonaobra made it to the elite Mythical Five together with CNSAT’s Charles Louie Penaflor, and Biliran National Agricultural High School’s Christian Miguel Dano and Charles Jyvion Buenaventura.

Aside from pocketing P10,000, CNHS will also be joining the other leg winners in the highly anticipated “Battle of the Best” that will determine the league’s inaugural champion in the high school division next week at the Ormoc Superdome in Ormoc City. — EBV
