CEBU, Philippines —  A total of 12 teams will battle for hardcourt supremacy in the Island Premium Paints Cup 2022, which kicked off last night at the Metro Sports Center along Salinas Drive in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

The title contenders are Prima, Super Kinis, Texakote, Epoxseal, Colorquick, Concretobond, Star Elastomer, Life, Roofkote, Tile Equip, Mayon, and Apollo.

Grouped in two brackets of six, they will play a single round robin in the elimination. The top four teams per bracket will proceed to the crossover quarterfinals, with the winners facing off in the semifinals. Immediately thereafter is the championship round.

The two-month tournament is a collaborative partnership between the Architects+Engineers Basketball Association (AEBA) and Island Premium Paints, a Cebu-based paint manufacturing company.

Both share the same passion for sports.

The AEBA has been in existence for seven years now but partnered with Island Paints as the league’s co-presenter for the very first time.

All games will be under the supervision of commissioner Jax Bautista. — EBV
